経歴 Biography: 1965年、ジュネーブ装飾美術大学を卒業後、デザイナーとして広告代理店に勤務。1970年からアニメーション作家として独立し、友人らとともにGDSスタジオを設立。TVタイトルや短編アニメーションなどの制作を始める。アヌシー映画祭に出品した処女作『パッチワーク』で注目を集め、その後の作品もザグレブ映画祭やソロー映画祭など、世界各国の映画祭で数多く受賞。1983年から84年の間には、奨学生として上海の大学で中国語を学んだ経歴を持つ。背景の大胆な省略と、卓越したデッサン力によって素早く描かれた大量の連続画によるメタモルフォーゼ、スピード感が特徴。主に、輪郭などの黒塗りはセルの裏側から、彩色は表側から施す手法で描いている。グアッシュ、クレヨン、油絵具など、作品によって様々な絵具を使い分けている。
