Biography

17歳の時から戯曲や詩を書き始め、ダブリン大学を卒業後は教師、俳優、ミュージシャンなどを経て短編映画を発表。やがてシナリオを書くようになり、ジョン・ブアマン作品の脚本を書いたのが縁でブアマン監督の「エクスカリバー」のドキュメンタリーのスタッフに起用される。1982年、「殺人天使」で監督デビュー。初公開作の「狼の血族」で一躍スター監督の仲間入りを果たすが、ハリウッドに移ってからは低迷が続く。1992年の「クライング・ゲーム」で復活し、1994年の「インタビュー・ウィズ・バンパイア」は世界的に大ヒットした。
